The popularity of automotive electronics will drive up the volume and price of automotive PCB(printed circuit board). In recent years, the trend of automobile electrification and electronization is obvious, and PCB is almost everywhere in automobile electronic system.

The new energy vehicles and intelligent driving components will greatly increase the value of PCB

In recent years, the trend of automobile electrification and electronization is more and more obvious. As the backbone of electronics, PCB manufacturing is increasingly important in the automotive supply chain. Compared with the traditional fuel vehicles, the new energy vehicles add charging, energy storage, power distribution and voltage conversion equipment, which will bring a lot of new application scenarios to PCB.

At the same time, although autonomous driving above L4 cannot be mass-produced in a short time, the gradual penetration of various intelligent driving components will bring rapid development opportunities for high-end high-frequency PCB applications in automobiles.

PCB applications: new energy vehicles

According to our estimation, in the powertrain and transmission field alone, the value of PCB in electric vehicle is as high as 800 yuan, which is 20 times of the value of PCB in the field of traditional vehicle.

The new demand for electric vehicles mainly comes from powertrain related equipment-on-board charger, battery management system (BMS), voltage conversion system (dc-dc, inverter, etc.) and other high-voltage and low-voltage devices.

A large number of high-voltage and high-power devices, such as IGBT and MOSFET, are included in the new energy vehicles, which have high requirements on heat dissipation. As a result, PCB layout cannot be too dense, which further increases the amount of PCB used in the new energy vehicles.

For each new energy vehicle, the total PCB board required by the above-mentioned equipment is about 0.8 square meters.

And the PCB that a car of medium level of electronicization needs whole car is about 0.43 square metre only in total. In the internal combustion engine and traditional system of traditional oil-fired vehicles, the amount of PCB is very small, only about 0.04 square meters in total.
